Travel in Aurora

We traveled to some sights in Aurora the last day. We saw Asia's largest tree, a waterfall, and one of the 6 colleges in the province of Aurora. After that, we headed back to Manila to do some shopping and catch our flight back to Korea.

Final Day Program and House Dedication

Our fearless leader, Jonny Wong, trying to step over the poles. The other 3 teachers from our team also tried steps. The kids at the village were full of energy and loved to watch us work and play with us when we had free time. We got them some basketballs and volleyballs and taught them how to do origami. One of the girls also brought nail polish so we could paint their nails. The last picture shows some of the skilled workers and volunteers we worked with over the week. The man in the back next to Annette, Juanito- he carved a small soap for everyone on our team- 17! He was a great teacher and had amazing patience with all of us. I really miss all the people we worked with and met.

Habitat Homes

The first photo is from a home that we toured. The rest of the photos are from homes that we helped work on this week. We helped mix cement, lay blocks, and plaster the outside and inside with cement. I had a great time working with the skilled laborers and our team. They were so patient with us and taught us a lot this past week. We came to serve, but they served and blessed us so much.

San Luis National High School

We visited San Luis National High School. Another surprise- they all made small Korean flags, the band played again, and we played a game of basketball in front of their whole school. Team Korea vs. Team Philippines. It was so funny. We even had one of their teachers do a play by play of the game and who had the ball. I got to play the 2nd half with our boys.

Beach

The beach right outside our hotel. The mayor hooked us up with surfing instructors one night after we worked. Most of the students and teachers tried it. I didn't get the chance to, but it looked like everyone had a really good time. The waves were pretty big because it was near sunset, but most people got up for a few seconds at least once.

Arrival at Habitat Village

A huge surprise when we got to the Habitat Village. We had dancers and a marching band from the San Luis National High School. We were pretty shocked- they did a big program with lots of cultural dancing and music.

Aurora

Province of Aurora- close to the worksite.

First day in Manila

We ate at Chow King in Manila before our long bus ride. We traveled the first day from 3 am to midnight before we showed up in the province of Aurora. What a long day!! Funny urinal on the side of the road. The high school at TCIS is doing a musical this spring called Urinetown. It's a privelege to pee.
